ARTE 691 - Critical Foundations in Art and Aesthetics

Traditions of criticism in the arts looking at standards and criteria for responding to and judging art and other cultural artifacts, as the basis of critiquing and creating educational programs, research methodologies, and analytical approaches to assessing state goals, curriculum objectives, and the content of school and museum art education programs.  Emphasis on assessing the actual and potential impact of various critical traditions on the goals of art education programs in schools and museums.

Prerequisites & Notes
PRQ: Admission to the art education specialization in the Ed.D. program in curriculum and instruction, or consent of school.
