Majors with at least a 3.25 cumulative GPA are eligible for the Political Science Honors Program. The B.A. or B.S. degree with honors in political science is awarded to successful candidates.
The Political Science Honors Program is separate from the University Honors Program, but students admitted to both programs may, with permission, use their political science honors thesis to satisfy the University Honors Program’s requirement of a senior year independent study project. Details about the program are available in the department office (Zulauf 315).
Requirements
Approval by the department chair or assistant chair for admission to the program
Maintenance of at least a 3.50 GPA in all political science courses and a 3.25 GPA in all university courses
Successful completion of the junior honors seminar, POLS 397H
Successful completion of the senior honors thesis course, POLS 499H. The honors thesis must be approved by the student’s thesis director and a faculty member appointed by the department chair.
