NNGO 100 - Foundations of Nonprofit and NGO Studies for Social Changemakers

Introduction to the interdisciplinary field of nonprofit and non-governmental organization studies inside and outside the U.S. Explore the historical role of nonprofits and NGOs as caretakers and changemakers in civil society; their current roles in community building, political activism and economic development; ethical frameworks guiding action in the sector; and the major responsibilities of nonprofit leaders including setting strategy, managing employees and volunteers, fundraising, and board governance.
