TECH 231 - Introduction to Workplace Health and Safety

Review and application of contemporary approaches to recognition, evaluation, and control of workplace hazards. Use and limitations of federal safety standards. Analysis of the interactions between industrial processes, materials, chemicals, worker behavior, management practices and their impacts on creating a safe work environment. Case studies and small group activities using the scientific method to measure hazards, select control options, and implement protective actions.
