CHEM 360 - Inorganic Chemistry I


Introduction to the atomic structural basis for periodicity; ionic and covalent bonding theories essential to modern inorganic chemistry; the solid state: ionic lattices and nonmolecular compounds. Brief introduction to symmetry elements and point group classification. Correlation of structure and properties of inorganic compounds with emphasis on descriptive chemistry of the main group elements. Acid-base chemistry and nonaqueous solvents. Three lectures a week.

PRQ: CHEM 211T and CHEM 213.
