Preventive and Applied Health

Admission to the major in medical laboratory sciences is limited. See “Limited Admissions and Limited Retention Requirements” in the front part of this catalog. 

The School of Preventive and Applied Health offers majors in health sciences (B.S.), public health (B.S.) and medical laboratory sciences (B.S.)  and minors in addiction studies, public health, health administration, and health education. Degree paths in these majors prepare students for entering the workforce, professional degree programs, or advancement in health careers. Opportunities for skill development, academic success, and career exploration in health -related fields are fostered through collaborative learning, cocurricular activities, and faculty mentoring. Academic offerings in the health sciences programs include prerequisite classes for medical laboratory sciences, and physical therapy programs with efficient course sequencing toward degree completion.

Majors in the School of Preventive and Applied Health who are preparing for professional practice may be dismissed from a program on the basis of either academic deficiencies or nonprofessional performance. Specific criteria relating to these areas are made known to each student at the time the professional phase of a program is initiated.
