The Department of Kinesiology and Physical Education offers two Master of Science degree programs: the M.S. in Kinesiology and Physical Education (with specializations in Exercise Physiology, Physical Education Pedagogy, Sport and Exercise Psychology) and the M.S. in Sport Management. These programs prepare students for leadership, teaching, research, and professional roles in sport, exercise, and physical education. Graduate students benefit from a comprehensive curriculum, opportunities for applied practice, state-of-the-art laboratory spaces and engagement with faculty experts across multiple disciplines. Through these programs, graduates are equipped with the knowledge and practical expertise necessary for careers in teacher education, healthcare, sport, and wellness, as well as for further doctoral study. To complement their degree, students are also encouraged to concurrently pursue a certificate graduate study within the department.
The department also offers a Ph.D. program in Kinesiology and Physical Education which prepares scholars, researchers, and leaders to advance knowledge in the fields of human movement, physical activity, sport, and health. The program emphasizes rigorous research training, theoretical foundations, and applied practice across diverse areas such as exercise physiology, biomechanics, sport and exercise psychology, pedagogy, and physical activity behavior. Students engage in advanced coursework, independent research, and experiential opportunities designed to foster expertise in both disciplinary specialization and interdisciplinary inquiry. Graduates are positioned for academic, research, and leadership roles in higher education, health and wellness organizations, and allied fields where evidence-based approaches to human performance and well-being are essential.
