The Bachelor of Arts in World Languages and Cultures is an interdisciplinary program that fosters global awareness, intercultural competence, and advanced proficiency in the language of emphasis. Students may choose an emphasis in German, French, or Spanish. The curriculum integrates language development with courses in linguistics, literature, film, translation, and cultural studies, and encourages experiential learning through study abroad, service learning, internships, and community engagement.
Students can add educator licensure to their B.A. in World Languages and Cultures, combining language expertise with professional teaching qualifications.
Students who wish to earn a baccalaureate degree with honors in World Languages and Cultures must consult with a departmental advisor. To be eligible, students must have a minimum GPA of 3.50 in the major and a minimum university GPA of 3.00 and must complete an honors independent study under the direction of a faculty member.
