Minor in Rehabilitation Counseling (18)

This minor provides introductory knowledge and skills related to working with people with disabilities, including people with mental illnesses and substance use disorders, individuals with chronic illnesses, and other groups (e.g., the elderly, youth, and incarcerated populations). When paired with a bachelor’s degree, students will be prepared for entry-level positions, such as job coach, job placement specialist, or case manager.  Students desiring clinical positions (e.g., rehabilitation counselor, occupational therapy) must obtain a graduate degree. Nine or more semester hours must be taken at NIU.  This minor is open to all students.
