Students pursuing a bachelor’s degree in Applied Physics may apply to the accelerated B.S. in Applied Physics / M.S. in Electrical Engineering (see the graduate program in the graduate catalog for admissions and retention details). Students should notify their academic advisor of their interest in this program as soon as possible in order to take preparatory courses during their first semester at NIU.

Students who are admitted to the accelerated program complete all requirements for the bachelor’s degree in Applied Physics. Students should follow guidance from their advisor in physics about required courses to ensure sufficient background in electrical engineering for admission to and retention in the graduate program. Students may use up to 12 credits of master’s-level course work toward their undergraduate degree requirements, allowing students to complete the master’s degree at an accelerated pace.
