Accelerated B.A. or B.S. in Psychology / M.S. in Education in Counseling

Return to {$returnto_text} Return to: College of Liberal Arts and Sciences

Students pursuing a bachelor’s degree in psychology may apply to the accelerated B.A. or B.S. in Psychology and M.S. in Education in Counseling program (see the graduate program in the graduate catalog for details). This program leads to both the B.A. or B.S. degree in Psychology and the M.S.E.D. degree in Counseling with a specialization in Clinical Mental Health Counseling. Admission will be on a competitive basis, comparable to admissions for the graduate program in general.

Students who are admitted to the graduate program complete all the requirements for the bachelor’s degree in psychology.  They may use up to 12 credits of Master’s-level coursework toward elective credits that are outside of the psychology degree requirements, allowing students to complete the master’s degree at an accelerated pace.  The graduate courses may need to be completed during the summer, and a summer undergraduate graduation may be required in order to ensure seamless transition to the graduate program.  If students apply and are denied admission to the accelerated program, they may still apply for the graduate program for the non-accelerated, three-year cohort model program.
