BME 330 - Biomechanics


A lecture and laboratory course that covers the mechanics of deformable bodies with an emphasis on biological and physiological systems. Concepts of stress and strain, axial loading, torsion, bending, and deflection. Specific applications to mechanical properties of bone and cartilage, muscle forces and mechanics, and other biological solids. Introduction of experimental methods and computational modeling of biological tissues, with laboratories introducing students to experimental methods and measurements in detail. Lecture, discussion three periods per week; laboratory session one period per week.

PRQ: BME 201 and MEE 212.
