Communicative Disorders (B.S.)

Students in this major may combine interests in communicative disorders with preparation for advanced study in fields such as speech-language pathology, audiology, medical sciences, dentistry, physical or occupational therapy, community health, physiology, psychology, linguistics, education, rehabilitation counseling or law.

Freshman Admission to the Master’s Program in Communicative Disorders with a Specialization in Speech-Language Pathology

Seven seats in the master’s program in communicative disorders with a specialization in speech-language pathology are reserved for the first seven incoming freshman COMD University Honors students who accept admission to NIU, and meet the stated program criteria and requirements. Program criteria and requirements are available from the NIU University Honors Program and the School of Allied Health and Communicative Disorders. Students who are accepted in this program will receive a separate letter from the communicative disorders program informing them that their seat in the master’s program in communicative disorders has been reserved.  To maintain their seat reservation, students must email the AHCD school chair confirming receipt of the program letter within 2 weeks of receiving the admission letter to the freshman admission to the master’s program in communicative disorders with a specialization in speech-language pathology.
