Introduction to special education and working with individuals with disabilities in educational and community settings. Topics include disability characteristics; laws and legal issues, including the Individuals with Disabilities Education Act; history and philosophy of the field of special education; and supporting students with Individualized Family Service Plans and Individualized Education Programs.
