The Department of English offers two certificates of graduate study. Courses used to satisfy the requirements of the certificate may also be applied toward a graduate degree in English.
This certificate recognizes the successful completion of a set of courses intended to enhance the professional qualifications of technical writers.
(With approval of the certificate adviser, students may select up to 6 semester hours of electives from other English courses in rhetoric, language, linguistics, or writing or from appropriate courses in such other areas as communication, instructional technology, computer science, art, and business. Students may add up to 3 semester hours to the initial 6 with the approval of the graduate director.)
