ENGL 647 - Theory and Research in Written Composition

A. Engllish Language Arts
Theory and research applied to principled practices in teaching and evaluating composition in English Language Arts with emphasis on meeting Common Core Standards for writing in the multicultural classroom. Aligned with the Illinois Professional Teaching Standards and the National Council of Teachers of English standards for teaching English Language Arts.

B. Middle Level Content Areas
Theory and research applied to principled practices in teaching and evaluating composition in middle school content areas other than English Language Arts, with emphasis on meeting Common Core Standards for writing in the multicultural classroom. Aligned with the Illinois Professional Teaching Standards.

Prerequisites & Notes
PRQ: Admission to educator licensure program in secondary English Language Arts or consent of department. CRQ: ILAS 201 or consent of department.
