PSPA 640 - Sustainability Policy and Management

An introduction to sustainability as a core management competency for public sector organizations. Topics include systems thinking; sustainability metrics in performance management; how sustainability expresses in infrastructure system design and management; governance of common pool resources; environmental policies overview; environmental justice; science communication for public managers; and the role of risk in decision-making for resilience. Case studies from local governments, regional agencies, and nonprofits to illustrate course topics.
